Mr Raoul K's 2011 debut album, Introducing My World, was a thing of rare beauty. It perfectly showcased his distinctive fusions of deep house and West African music, confirming his status as one of the most intriguing producers around. On Mande, his second full-length, he continues in a similar vein. The genius of his productions isn't the blend of traditional and contemporary sounds, but rather the fact that his version of afro-house genuinely sounds like nothing else around. There are, of course, more traditionally African moments (see "Belebeleba" and the Griotmix of "Mande"), but these are complimented by hypnotic and occasionally mesmerising moments of fluid deep house beauty.
